He stopped me as I was on my way home from the church the other morning, just as I was about to cross the railway line, hailing me cheerfully by name from his motor-scooter. 'How are you? Lovely day. I'm just off to the Co-Op. Can't complain, I've had my son staying with me, problems with his partner, but he's found somewhere else to go now so that's all right. See you soon!'
I haven't got the faintest idea who he is or where I met him before. But I am public property.
